The year 2011 has been far from stable, with multiple economic crises across the Western hemisphere, coupled with natural disasters striking various nations around the globe. Metals have been on a volatile path all year, and keeping the entire industry on its toes.

Lucky Group has fared the rocky seas fairly well, with a strong foundation, a solid board, a decisive management and a hardworking employee force. Through the ups and downs of this year, the board has focused on ensuring that specific mechanisms and strategies are put in place to insulate the Group from the majority of these effects.

This year has been a year for consolidation. We have mobilized our resources from across the world, centralized specific functions, and focused on efficiency-promoting operations to strengthen our profit centers. The board has also reorganized the corporate structure over the year with the goal of a lean, efficient and agile management structure, which will be able to respond to global events proficiently. Now more than ever, Lucky Group has reinforced its strict controls over quality, cost and risk management

The Group has also nominated for diversifying our risks between the Eastern and Western markets, to placate our commercial risks. Lucrative markets like China and India will continue to be the focus of our commercial interests, while we further solidify our supply chain within the Middle East and the Americas.

The second half of the year seems just as unstable as the first half, with the impending $447 billion stimulus in the United States and an unknown vision of where the metals are headed. With the global economies shrinking, failing economic statistics, and a weakening dollar, we can only best prepare ourselves for a financial crisis that doesn’t look too improbable in the near future.
